The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) asked us to redevelop their website using WordPress, with the aim of improving delegate registration, simplifying content management, and carrying forward their archive of past events and activities.

Project objectives

Enable invite-only delegate registration through a straightforward online process

Provide greater flexibility for content editors using a modular page builder

Migrate past event data from the organisation’s legacy Drupal 7 website

Make it easier for users to explore content by theme or activity type
Key features & solutions
Delegate registration via Gravity Forms
We set up a secure registration system using Gravity Forms, tailored to allow invite-only attendance. The forms include built-in logic to manage approvals, capacity, and event-specific requirements, giving ICMS full control over the delegate process.
Tagging for events, workshops and research in groups
A simple but powerful tagging structure was introduced to help surface related content across the site. Events, Workshops and Research in Groups can now be filtered by topic or format, making it easier for visitors to find relevant material.
Content-first page building
We built a flexible page builder within WordPress that allows the ICMS team to design content layouts without needing developer input. Using a set of reusable content blocks, editors can create engaging pages tailored to each event or initiative.
Migration from Drupal 7
The previous ICMS site was built in Drupal 7. We managed the transfer of all key content—events, related files and metadata—into WordPress. This ensured continuity for site users and kept the organisation’s academic history intact.
The outcome
The new ICMS website is easier to use, easier to manage, and better suited to the needs of a research-led organisation. Built in WordPress, it gives the ICMS team the tools to maintain their site independently, while supporting the needs of both organisers and attendees.
